CANNED SEAFOOD AND FISH

Spain is a country of fishermen, we are the second largest consumer of fish in the world after Japan, and although the global market and modernisation allows us to eat any fish in any place in any season of the year, canning is and has been, indispensable to make the Mediterranean diet the most healthy and varied in the world.. Fish is prepared and canned or bottled immediately after being caught, thereby maintaining its nutritional properties and delicious flavour. The typical preparations are “al natural”, in oil or “en escabeche” (in a very light mix of vinegar and spices). In Spain there are three denominations of origin which supervise our most valuable and delicious treasures of the sea.
